Barlow shows Church no mercy
Clonmel 4-0 Church of Ireland
A Betty Barlow hat-trick ensured Clonmel would continue their good run of form and pick up maximum points against Church of Ireland.

Following on from their 3-0 win over Ashton last weekend, Clonmel were keen to keep the momentum going and secure another good result.
Church of Ireland arrived in Rockwell with a very experienced panel ready for the challenge. Within three minutes of the starting whistle Clonmel secured their first short corner. Injected perfectly by Kate O’Sullivan to Betty Barlow who found the back of the goal with a powerful shot to give Clonmel a one nil lead.

The pace of the game was extremely fast and this suited Clonmel, whose forwards Roisin Moroney, Megan Burns, Lucy Boland, Caoimhe O’Connor and Emily Drohan were relentless with the pressure on CofI’s defense.

And Clonmel soon secured another short that converted to goal number two for Betty Barlow. Another perfect delivery from Kate O’Sullivan and Barlow made no mistake, blasting low to the corner.
The second quarter started as predicted with Church of Ireland settling into the game and making several chances but try as they might, they couldn’t get the better of Clonmel’s defence of Jenny O’Brien, Kate Barlow, Cliona Collins, Kate O’Sullivan and Susan Meaney.

Clonmel were solid in defence and were quick to overturn each attack and after soaking up some pressure they added a third to ultimately kill the contest when Megan Burns benefitted from a deflection and slotted it nicely into the goal.

In the final quarter Church of Ireland made several position changes to try and secure a goal, however Clonmel’s Antonia McGrath intercepted many of the attempts and quickly switched the attack. Clonmel secured another short corner with time running out and Betty Barlow completed her hat- trick that earned her the player of the match award.

Clonmel took another 3 points from a very fast and skillful game.
