Visits from Twin Town Groups
During June and July Clonmel welcomed visits from two Twin Town groups. The first was a visit from a Choir from our Twin Town of Eysines, France called Polyphonies. The Choir of 40 members performed at the Town Hall on the 19th June courtesy of Mayor Councillor Michael Murphy and Clonmel Borough Council. They were welcomed to the Town Hall by Deputy Mayor, Councillor John Fitzgerald.

They performed a lovely mix of French and Celtic songs led by Musical Director, Emmanuel Lahoz.

The Murphy Sisters Traditional Irish Group also performed along with Irish Dancer, Alex Donovan.
We were also happy to have Jean Charles Pourtier and his wife Claudie from Eysines and Cookie Jordan and her Daughter Erin from our Twin Town of Peoria at the Concert.
The Choir enjoyed a week-long visit to Ireland and also performed in Galway. From 7th to 11th July we welcomed boys and girls youth Soccer teams from our Twin Town of Trofaiach, Austria.
The teams were led by their Coach Peter Zlamy and Teacher Janina Rumpold.

They played matches against Teams from Clonmel Town and Slievenamon Celtic Soccer Clubs. The matches were very skilful and competitive and were enjoyed by all. We wish to sincerely thank both Clubs for their hospitality.
The visitors also went on a day trip to Tramore and visited sights in Clonmel.
Great friendships were made as a result of both visits.
