Irish Team Training at Cahir Park AFC

Published 2 months ago 08th August 2022 by Reporter

Cahir Park hosted the Ireland Amputee Squad for training on Saturday July 23 & Sunday July 24. The Team are in preparation for their upcoming World Cup taking place in October in Turkey. As usual it was a pleasure to meet them all again as they have been training in Cahir Park once a month for the past 2 months.

The Team were delighted to meet Johnny B of ‘The Two Johnnies’ fame who took time out of his busy schedule to come along to Cahir Park to watch them train and meet the lads for chat afterwards too.
The team have started their fundraising campaign to travel to the World Cup in October in Turkey and The 2 Johnnies invited to Garry Hoey who is part of the Team travelling to speak last week on their RTE 2FM Radio Show to launch the fundraiser. The fundraising Campaign is seeking businesses around the country who would be interested to sponsor one of the 22 strong teams travel costs. The 2 Johnnies kindly started off the fundraising by sponsoring Gary Hoey himself! A great start and we wish them well.

Our thanks to Johnny B for the great visit to Cahir Park AFC and the Irish Amputee Team for using our facilities too! We are super proud to have the pleasure of seeing real athletes train. We look forward to meeting all the Team once again later on this month when they return once again to Cahir Park AFC.
