Tipp-Based Company Launch Online Platform For Coffee Sales

Published 1 year ago 05th February 2022 by Jamie O’Flaherty

A new online coffee sales platform called Caffè Pompeii Ireland has launched in Tipperary, connecting retailers directly to products then assisting in the logistics.

Transactions can range from as little as a single bag of coffee up to entire lots with an array of different blends and tastes on offer.

The company was co-founded by Clonmel natives Nigel Byrne and Gino Forte along with Sam Jones from Cahir.

Passionate about coffee, the trio have spent months researching and sampling brands from all over Europe before securing a deal with the brand Caffè POMPEII to purchase the selling rights of the Pompeii brand in Ireland.

Caffè Pompeii is currently the fastest growing coffee brand in Italy and securing the selling rights for Ireland is a real coup for the Tipp based company.

“We travelled to Milan in Italy to attend a coffee trade convention” explained Gino.
“We originally had plans to launch our own brand but when we were asked to be sole traders of the Caffè Pompeii brand in Ireland we just had to take it.

“The Pompeii coffee blends are hugely popular in Italy and the company is growing rapidly.”
Having travelled to the convention in Milan, the three entrepreneurs were surprised by the sheer scale of the trade fair, where six million people were in attendence throughout the five days.

“At Caffè Pompeii Ireland, we believe that quality doesn’t stop when you’ve created a fantastic product,” explained Nigel.

“It’s important that the product is handled and transported well. That’s why we use triple-layer PET bags, these bags are designed to preserve and protect the coffee beans, and a unidirectional degassing valve is applied to each and every bag, expelling any gases created by the fermentation process.
“All of this is done to guarantee that a fresh and quality coffee is delivered to you every time.”

Coffee Beans
Pompeii Coffee Beans are first choice and give a persistent and intense aroma. The triple layer PET bags offer an effective barrier against external agents. These, in fact, effectively preserve and protect the grains, guaranteeing a certain resistance especially in the transport phase. A unidirectional degassing valve is applied to all the bags which allows to expel the gases due to the fermentation of the roasted coffee avoiding the entry of the external area guaranteeing a longevity and freshness of the product.

Roasting
It is the most delicate production process, the one that more than the others determines the “taste of coffee”. Caffè Pompeii has carefully analysed various partner companies by selecting slow cycle, flexible and fully automated roasting plants for this process in order to optimize the caramelization of sugars and the formation of aromas for each individual coffee origin.
Each coffee origin has its own peculiarities: in order to roast every single bean in a workmanlike manner, we have chosen to roast by single origin, then mixing the aromas and flavours of the different origins, all only after adequate seasoning.
