League Division One
Old Bridge 0
St Michael’s 1
An early goal ensured that the points went back to Tipperary Town in an entertaining game at Green Lane.
The decisive action came in the sixth minute when Josh Flannery got on the end of a cross to give the visitors the lead.
The ‘Bridge’ thought they were back on level terms in the 25th minute but Jake Mulcahy’s strike was parried away for a corner.
From the resulting dead ball, Andy Pyke had a shot saved and the visitors held on to their lead. Both Pyke and Mulcahy were causing problems for ‘Saints’ but they were unable to make the pressure count and the home side went to the break a goal behind.
The second half was characterised by a midfield battle, with both sides struggling to breach the others, defence.
Liam Powell in the Bridge goal was equal to anything that he had to save.
However despite their efforts up front the home side were unable to get the equalising goal they so desperately craved, and in the end the Saints were glad of a hard-earned victory.
