Tipperary’s Orchestral Talented Youth Orchestra Returning to Rehearsals

Published 2 years ago 11th September 2021 by Editor

After a long break the talented County Tipperary Ryan Youth Orchestra will return to rehearsals on Friday 17th September at the Ryan School of Music, Bank Place, Tipperary Town.

The CTRYO has been apart since the beginning of Covid lockdowns and its members were very disappointed when a trip to Tuscany, Italy, to perform at a concert was cancelled in Easter 2020.

The CTRYO Orchestras have successfully participated in National and International events and performed almost annually at Music Festivals and concerts in Germany, France, Switzerland, Scotland and Denmark, where it represented Ireland in The European Youth Orchestras Festival in Copenhagen.

“I’m delighted to welcome the students back to rehearsals after a long break due to Covid,” said Musical Director Michael John Ryan. “I have really missed making music with the orchestra and in particular watching the progress of the students as the rehearsals evolved.”

The County Tipperary Ryan Youth Orchestra isamemberofTheIrishAssociationofYouth Orchestras. It caters for young musicians from all over County Tipperary and neighbouring counties.

It was founded by The Ryan School of Music that began in 1979. Since 1981, the In 1998 the CTRYO was the recipient of an I.A.Y.O. National Award presented by The President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, at The National Concert Hall, Dublin, where it again performed in February 2000 and received the Award for the second time.

Members’ ages range from twelve to twenty plus with guest musicians taking part on special occasions.
