Published 11 months ago 11th September 2021 by Editor

It’s been two great weekends of outdoor activities. KnockMEDown multi/ disciplinary event challenge Included: cycling running (walking) Kayaking on Bay Lough. return run/ walk and pick up bicycles at picnic site and return cycle to Newcastle. For the more challenging route Knock ME Down MÒR Cycle via The Vee, Mount Melleray. Thus is a growing event each year and attracts huge participation, testing their fitness levels in the Knockmealdowns. Well done everybody!
The Rhododendron Walking Festival committee held the Harvest Walking festival this weekend, with over 180 walkers, on Saturday , taking in the splendid views and hospitality of the Galty Vee Valley.

On Sunday approximately, 120 people attended historical talks in Tubrid, Ballyporeen, and Clogheen. Thanks to PJ O Meara, David Butler, and our budding young historian: Evan Shine, Neil O Donovan in Ballyporeen and David Slattery in Clogheen.
A huge thanks also to all the volunteers who helped out in any way over the weekend, without whom it wouldn’t be possible, and a special thanks to all who participated, you are what makes the festival, thank you so much, and hope to see people back again in the future.
