Glengoole Utd 0
Clonmel Town 7

Clonmel Town maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a comprehensive win over their hosts Glengoole Utd.

The away side flew out of the traps and led as early as the 8th minute when Adrian Cleere headed home from a pinpoint delivery from Jack O’Donnell.

Town doubled the advantage almost immediately when another set piece wasn’t dealt with by the Glengoole rearguard and Alan O’Donnell was on hand to apply a neat finish from close range.

Clonmel Town buoyed by this poured forward and the third goal duly arrived after excellent work from Jake French Davis to evade two tackles before crossing to the unmarked Dylan Guiry to fire home to send Town 3 goals to the good with only 17 minutes played. The home side were hoping for the safety of half time to regroup but Town had other ideas and effectively ended the game as a contest when Jack O’Donnell scored the goal of the day with a vicious strike from all of thirty yards which cannoned in off the upright.

Glengoole were nothing if not game and persistent running from Jamie Carey earned the home side a free kick on the edge of the Town box and the resulting effort flew over the Town wall but Evan Comerford determined to maintain his three game shut out expertly gathered the ball safely into his body. The second half began much the same as the first with the away side on the front foot and the fifth goal of the game once again went the way of Jack O Donnell. Having introduced fresh legs at the interval Town were very much in control all over the pitch as their deflated hosts battled hard to try and gain a foothold in the game. Evan Mcguire added a sixth and seventh on his return to action, with a trademark free kick the pick of the two as Town ran out comfortable victors on the day.
