Bansha Celtic 2
Glengoole Utd 3

Both sides battled for every ball in Bansha but it was Glengoole United who pick up the valuable three points.

Two rockets from Glengoole defender Shane Hanrahan got his side off to the perfect season start away to Bansha Celtic. The home side appeared to have done enough to take all three points themselves but a mix-up in defence led to a desperate late tackle on Jamie Carey inside the box and Carey dusted himself off to fire low to the bottom left hand corner to level proceedings late on.

Before that Bansha looked reasonably comfortable. After falling behind to the first of Hanrahan’s exquisite volleys, Killian Fitzgerald fired them level before Stephen O’Dwyer added a quick second. Despite missing a number of regulars, Bansha showed great heart and desire to hold on but it wasn’t to be. The consession of the penalty broke their resolve before Hanrahan hammered home his second beauty of the day to secure all the points.
