“The route runs from Clonmel through Ardfinnan, Clogheen, Ballyporeen through to Mitchelstown, Fermoy and onto Cork City. “There is limited infrastructure available along the route in South Tipperary and with a lack of bus shelters and up to date timetables being available on site.

“Locals in Ardfinnan have highlighted the need for a Bus Shelter in the village as the lack of shelter from the elements deters those who may seek to use the bus service. “We are in the midst of a climate crisis; we need to be able to offer our citizens a sustainable means of transport. That means investing in rural Ireland’s public transport network such as the Bus service.

“We need investment for greater frequency, reliability and cost effectiveness to encourage people in rural areas to avail of Bus and rail transport.“Sinn Fein has proposed in our 2020 Election manifesto that all children/young people under the age of 18 would be able to avail of free public transport, creating a change and incentive for young people and families to use the bus service.”
