Clonmel Golf Notes
Billy Byrne Bites back….On the busiest captains prize day in many many years the first two boys on the tee to be greeted by Mr. Billy Green Captain of Clonmel Golf Club 2021 at 6.45 were Mr. Gavin Smyth and Mr. Billy Byrne on what was a damp drizzly start turned out to be a sizzler for Gavin and Billy.

Gavin wins the gross prize with 72 shots off +1 Handicap. Billy won the Nett prize with a 65 off a handicap of 10. Impressive shooting by both parties all things considered. Matt O’Donoghue(19) was home alone in second with a nett 68. Michael McGarry(13), yours truly Donncha Doyle(11), Master Owen Quigley(10) and the in form Liam Phelan(3) all scrapped out for the minor honours with very respectable 69’s. Liam Kennedy(17) won the seniors with a 69 also. (and we weren’t even invited to the party). Mr Michael O’Neill won the past Captains with a nett 70. New Member or return to golf prize was picked up by Christopher (the Bommer) O’Gorman.
A great Day and Night was had by all. Golf in Play:12 Hole Woodlock and 18 Hole Bulmers on going.
Junior Golf Update:
Normal Monday competition and Practice 8.30 sharp. Thursday practice at 5.30pm to 7.30pm sharp.
Other Results Mr. Michael O’Neill(8) wins last week’s Bulmers qualifier with a whopping 42 Pts.
This week we say Sayonara to the boys in 36pts and a word of warning to the boys on 37 Pts unfortunately you’re like the one armed man hanging off the cliff with itchy Prov1’s. Also time to get your teams in for the “Liam Hewitt” 10 year anniversary 3 Club Event on Friday 20th of August. (see attached)The “Paddy Murray Cup” cup is hotting up with the Big Guns taking on the Young Guns of Donal Foley & Kevin Corry Versus John Kelly Jnr & Colm Galvin.Sky Sports want to make it a pay per view event.
