Second League Win for CJK.

Published 2 years ago 30th June 2021 by Editor

On Sunday in Mullinahone CJK hurlers had their second win in a row in the county senior hurling league.

The win came as a result of a 1-16 to 1-13 victory over South Tipp rivals Carrick Swan. At the end of last season Swan surprised CJK in the South Tipp SH final after CJK had won the Seamus O Riain Cup at county level. Sunday’s win was encouragement for Mullinahone who lined out without some of their better known players as indeed also did Swan. At half time Swan led by 0-07 to 0-04 having played with the advantage of the wind in the first half. A Swan goal early in the third quarter gave them a six point lead as they went on top, but a goal from Eoin O’Dwyer and three points saw CJK draw level. Swan went ahead again, but CJK then outscored their rivals 0-05 to 0-01 to pull three points in front. The displays of some of our younger players and the return of some of our older crew must give CJK some hope for the rest of the season. Check the local newsletters for the lineouts.
